Bartlett signs with Friars

According to Corey Brock of Mlb.com, The Padres and Jason Bartlett have agreed to a two-year contract worth $11 million with a vesting option for 2013 totaling $15 million. Bartlett earned $4 million last year. He will make $4 million in 2011, $5.5 million in 2012, with a $5.5 million team option or a $1.5 million buyout for 2013. The Padres acquired him in a trade in December from the Tampa Bay Rays and by signing him now, avoid an arbitration hearing. Bartlett adds experience and good talent to the Padres where he will be sharing the middle infield with Orlando Hudson.
