Lee signs with O's, Reds close to signing Renteria

After passing his physical in Baltimore, Derek Lee became the newest member of the Baltimore Orioles. He signed a one year contract worth $7.25 million with a possible $3.75 million in incentives. This is a year that Lee will be looking to prove that he still has what it takes after coming off of a down season with the Cubs. The Orioles gain a two time All Star and a three time NL Gold Glove Award winner at first base.

The Atlanta Braves, after acquiring Dan Uggla earlier in the off season, have agreed to a 5 year contract extension worth $62 million. That means Uggla will be part of the Braves organization through the 2015 season. Uggla is 31 years old and is coming off of a season in which he had career highs in batting average, home runs, and RBI's, .287, 33, and 105 respectively.

ESPN Chicago reported that the Cincinnati Reds are close to a deal with last years World Series MVP Edgar Renteria. The deal is said to be worth $3 million for one year and if he does sign with the Reds, will be used mainly as the back up shortstop behind a young Paul Janish. We will keep you updated on any deals that are agreed upon regarding Renteria.
