Royals sign Francis.

The Royals have announced that they have signed LHP Jeff Francis to a one-year deal pending a physical. The deal is worth a guaranteed $2 million with another $2 million in incentives. Francis had an ERA of 5.00 with a 1.36 WHIP over 104 1/3 innings after an injury shortened year last season with the Rockies. The Royals were in need of some more pitching after their ace, Zach Greinke, was traded away.
