Butler signs extension with Royals, Rockies extend Hammel

According to Dick Kaegel of MLB.com, The Royals have agreed to a 4 year, $30 million contract with Billy Butler. The deal keeps him under contract for one free agency year. Butler his .318 with a .388 OBP last season for the Royals. Butler is one of the best players on the Royals and this is a great signing for them.

The Rockies have announced they have signed pitcher Jason Hammel to a two year extension which will get him to his first free agency year after the deal is over. Hammel posted a 4.81 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 177 2/3 innings last season with the Rockies.
