Reds and Renteria said to have reached deal.

The Reds and Edgar Renteria have agreed on a one year deal worth $2.1 million with an additional $900,000 in incentives according to Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago and Jon Heyman of SI.com. Renteria had shown interest in returning to one of his former teams in the Marlins or Cardinals but eventually decided signing with the Reds was the best option. The GM who he played for in St Louis, Walt Jocketty, is now the GM for the Reds.

Last season Renteria hit .276 in 267 at bats while playing limited time with multiple injuries throughout the season.
