Mets sign Chavez

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports the the Mets have signed cathcer Raul Chavez to a minor league contract. Chavez played for the Triple-A affiliate of the Blue Jays last season and last played in the majors in 2009. He hit .258 with a .285 OBP in 2009 with the Jays and .210 with a .260 OBP with the Jays affiliate in 2010.
